SUCCESSFUL WRITING - FICTION AND
NONFICTION
Techniques for improving your writing, tapping into your
inner creativity, and editing your writing to impress publishers. Discover
the tricks to tight writing. Learn how to make your story or article
flow and hold the reader's interest.
HOW TO GET YOUR WRITINGS PUBLISHED
Reach for the Rainbow, Lynne's
first book, now in its second edition and 25th printing, was originally
self-published. After over 21,000 copies were in print, four major New
York publishers bid for the rights. Penguin Putnam published the second
edition and a Chinese edition was released in 2003. Her second book
was Reach for Joy; How to Find the Right Therapist
and Therapy for You. Clear Your Past, Change
Your Future is in multiple printings, with editions in Spain,
Russia, India, and soon China. Lynne acted as her own agent in the sale
of her books. Her articles have been published in numerous magazines,
newspapers, and technical journals.
In this popular publishing workshop, you will learn:
how to choose potential publishers, write dynamic queries
and proposals, target markets, and overcome rejection blues.
Understand publishing contacts and how to protect your
interests. Is it better to have an agent or act as your own? Should
you go with a large publisher or a small one? Maximize foreign rights.
Evaluate the pros and cons of self-publishing; discover
how to make a self-published book successful. Avoid the perils of e-publishing.
HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR WRITING
Lynne is a former radio talk show host who won a first
place award from the Utah Broadcasters Association. To promote her books,
she booked her own guest appearances on over two hundred radio and television
shows, including The Leeza Show, morning talk shows, NPR, and three
times on Larry King's shows. Larry King said about Lynne on the air:
"Terrific guest! A great two hours!", invited her back twice, and selected
her show to repeat as one of "The Best of Larry King." She's
media savvy; hosts consistently invite her back for repeat appearances.
A regular guest on radio shows across the U.S. and Canada, Lynne is
also a monthly guest on a popular web radio show (www.beyondtherordinary.com).
Many magazines and newspapers have interviewed Lynne, including The
Washington Post and the New York Daily News.

HAIKU CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS FOR
CHILDREN, TEENS, AND ADULTS
These workshops are based on Lynne's new book, Windows
to the Light - Enriching Your Spirit with Haiku Meditations.
CREATE HAIKU, SEE MIRACLES, AND FIND THE HERO WITHIN
A creative, fun-filled workshop where children learn
about and create haiku poetry. The workshop is designed to stimulate
creativity, improve confidence and self-esteem and help children overcome
fears and believe in their unlimited potential. Children have fun, learn
about haiku poetry, and write their own haiku through interactive discussion
and readings from Windows to the Light. Where possible, children
take a short walk outside to look closely at details in nature before
writing a haiku or drawing what they see.
Classes are available for children from kindergarten
to high school ages. Older children write haiku and younger ones draw
pictures of what they see in nature. Lynne's interactions and responses
are positive and draw out the best in children. They are encouraged
to ask questions and develop their own styles and ideas.
